About Us
The Mud Tavern Community Group is a voluntary association of former residents of
the Mud Tavern community and descendants of Mud Tavern families.
The Group is dedicated to the task of compiling and maintaining an historical record
of this unique community that existed from the earliest days of the founding of
Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee.
This task is made urgent because Mud Tavern’s existence as a particular community
was all but obliterated by the expansion of the Nashville Airport in the mid 1950s
and the commercial development of the surrounding area.
By establishing this website we hope not only to make the Mud Tavern records we
are collecting available on the Internet but also to encourage others to submit
information they may have about the historic Mud Tavern community and its families.
